You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. All dimensions deliver the same Trac Auth software on Ubuntu Server 24.04; they differ only by instance size. Smaller types like t2.nano, t3.micro, and t3a.small suit light workloads. Larger types such as m5.24xlarge, m5dn.metal, and m5n.metal provide more compute, memory, and network capacity for heavier use. The t-family offers burstable performance, while the m-family provides steady general-purpose resources. Your hourly rate scales with the instance you select, so you match cost to the capacity you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the Trac Auth software license running on your chosen instance type. It does not include the underlying AWS EC2 compute charge or storage fees, which AWS bills separately. Both appear on your AWS invoice together.
The software fee meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software license bills only while the instance runs.
You open TCP port 80 in the Amazon firewall so the proxy server can serve the site. This is a network configuration step, not a billing factor. Your cost depends only on your selected instance type and running hours.
