Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the same Wireguard VPN Server software, and the price you pay depends on which AWS EC2 instance type you run it on. Every dimension maps to one instance size, so pricing scales with the compute capacity you choose. Smaller shared-CPU instances like the t2 and t3 families sit at the lower end. General-purpose m3, m4, m5, and related families scale up through larger sizes, ending with metal instances that use full physical hardware. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running AWS EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The Wireguard VPN Server software runs on that instance. Instance size sets the compute, memory, and network capacity available. You choose the size that fits your VPN traffic and user count.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software fees. Underlying AWS storage costs for the disk may still apply while the instance is stopped. The software meter counts running hours only.
You must open TCP port 22 for SSH access and UDP ports 51280-51282 in the AWS firewall settings. You connect using an SSH key pair, then create VPN users on the server. This setup applies regardless of which instance size you choose.
