Overview
Sigma Software, as an Advanced AWS Partner and Eligible AWS Migration Partner, provides a full-fledged migration process using the AWS Migration Acceleration Program framework to guide companies through the complete migration cycle, starting from preparation to post-migration support and maintenance. Aligning with the AWS Well-Architecture Framework, Sigma Software will help customers with the following activities during migration phases:
Assess Phase:
- Conduct a Business Value Assessment (BVA) to identify cost drivers, agility benefits, and innovation potential using AWS Pricing Calculator and AWS Migration Evaluator.
- Conduct cross-functional sessions and workshops to uncover critical business requirements, risk factors, and transformation goals, and make migration not just for infrastructure, but for the people.
- With the help of AWS Application Migration Service, conduct a comprehensive assessment of the client's digital estate to build a clear, data-driven business case for cloud migration
- Conduct a comparative total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to contrast current operational costs with cloud-based alternatives at a high level and build a preliminary corresponding cloud architecture that reflects current infrastructure and organizational landscapes.
- Using AWS Migration Evaluator, develop a workload strategy analysis to verify which migration strategy to apply. Using the approach of 7Rs, Sigma Software chooses the best-fitting strategy based on previous steps in the current phase.
- Conduct a cost comparison analysis to evaluate current hardware, software, maintenance, and operational costs against projected cloud expenses, including compute, storage, licensing, and support. This analysis helps to identify opportunities for right-sizing resources, eliminating underutilized assets, and leveraging cloud pricing models based on the chosen workload strategy.
- Complete the Cloud Readiness checklist to thoroughly understand an organization’s capability to migrate its infrastructure landscape to the cloud across multiple dimensions, including technology, people, processes, governance, and culture.
Mobilize
- Create a detailed plan for migrating workloads to the cloud, capturing the overall effort required for Migration. It includes scope management, workload migration, timeline and budget management, resource planning, risk management, governance, coordination, and communication plans.
- Using AWS Landing Zone and AWS Control Tower, build a secure and scalable cloud environment that provides a foundational setup for running workloads in the cloud, which serves as a foundational space for future workloads that will be migrated from the current infrastructure.
- transit to a Cloud Operating Model to ensure that once workloads are in the cloud, they are managed, secured, optimized, and supported effectively by introducing organizational and technical processes that are adapted to the cloud environment that work best for a business’s specific needs.
Migrate & Modernize
- Organize large-scale migration into smaller, logical, and physical, discrete, manageable migration units called workloads. Each iteration represents a single or multiple workloads that will be migrated together as part of a structured and phased rollout.
- Apply the best practices and attributes to the migrated workloads that were thoughtfully planned in the Enable phase. Based on the Well-Architected Framework, each migrated workload is evaluated against the AWF attributes: Operational excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance efficiency, Cost optimization, and Sustainability.
- Implement a cloud monitoring framework, introducing both technical and business KPI to measure the effectiveness of the migration and obtain performance insights of the cloud infrastructure.
- Continuously revisit cloud services’ and practices’ effectiveness and performance to tune cloud infrastructure configuration for better responsiveness and performance.
- ensure the ongoing realization of cost savings, business agility, and innovation speed through continuous modernization through a perpetual cycle of iterative improvement to workloads, processes, and teams through two possible ways: Infrastructure modernization and Application modernization
Training and Support:
- Cloud operations are often structured into tiers or levels of support to manage incident response, system maintenance, user issues, and advanced engineering tasks.
- Offer a Learning Management System with capabilities for conducting training for system users based on a comprehensive approach to learning, which includes preparing training materials, interacting with experienced trainers, and organizing workshops for instructors.
