You pay by the hour for the CentOS Stream 9 minimal ARM64 image running on your chosen AWS ARM64 (Graviton) instance. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so pricing scales with the compute size and family you select. Options span general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and metal instances across several generations and sizes, from small (nano, micro, medium) up to large multi-core and bare-metal types. You are billed only while an instance runs, and total cost depends on how many hours each instance stays active.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for this image?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the ARM64 (Graviton) type you select. The hourly rate covers the CentOS Stream 9 minimal software layer on that instance. Each instance you launch bills separately. Larger instance families and sizes carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. You resume software charges when you start the instance again.
Is this pay-as-you-go, or do I commit to a term upfront?
This is usage-based, pay-as-you-go pricing. You pay per instance-hour with no upfront commitment. Charges start when an instance runs and stop when it shuts down. This suits variable or short-lived workloads, since you only pay for the hours each instance stays active.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
