Overview
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-x-u81Rctg ] Migrating and deploying the MAS application to a ROSA cluster on AWS requires assistance from the designated IBM Maximo business partner. These are asset management specialists who will work with AWS partners to configure the application and apply the customer’s customizations to their MAS cluster. Tooling from IBM is available to facilitate the migration, however customization and testing required deep Maximo knowledge. The solution brings together deep Maximo knowledge and AWS capability to accelerate the customer migration, with well-defined responsibilities between the two partners working together with the customer.
The underlying AWS infrastructure may or may not be part of a wider customer AWS environment. A key component of the value proposition for the customer is that the MAS and ROSA stack, and associated AWS infrastructure be fully managed to reduce the upskilling and TCO challenge of operating an unfamiliar platform.
With the IBM Maximo business partner providing application support, and the AWS partner providing infrastructure and operational support of the AWS environment, the customer enjoys a full-stack managed service, with a well-defined support and escalation model. The AWS partner will ensure that the ROSA and AWS components remain up-to-date and will work with the IBM Maximo business partner to manage the MAS upgrade cycle. They will also ensure that the infrastructure remains secure, is resilient, and backed up, ensuring that the required objectives for recovery are met.
Highlights
- Fully managed migration from Maximo 7.x to the customer's chosen Maximo Application Suite (MAS). Migration from Maximo to a secure, scalable, resilient MAS deployment on AWS, fully managed by Fujitsu to reduce operational complexity, while maintaining customer control.
- The pain of EOL is mitigated through a low-friction migration to MAS, but the significant long-term benefits make the move to AWS a source of value for the customer. Challenges such as ESG reporting are unblocked with this holistic approach. This is a keen concern in Australia with the recently introduced Safeguard Mechanism for large enterprises and is a clear and growing need for suppliers in their procurement webs.
- In the medium term, the customer benefits from the full-stack managed service to reduce ongoing operational complexity and TCO associated with running a continuous deployment model. The longer-term opportunity for the customer is to work with the AWS partner to identify sources of value that the move to AWS enables, particularly in analytics, data, and AI, of the underlying data.
