    Transition HPC Modeling & Simulation Software to the Cloud

    Effort will involve transitioning existing modeling and simulation software running on local Government networks to the AWS cloud environment on JWICS.

    Overview

    ENSCO has past performance in transitioning HPC cloud compute to external cloud (AWS, etc).  This will extend efforts to modeling and simulation (M&S) software and provided developmental HPC network for all M&S by deploying and optimizing a range of M&S needs including but not limited to: Mission planning tool, meteorology, hydrology.  ENSCO proposes to develop a prototype transitional cloud platform that will allow the government to assess a scalable cloud HPC system on AWS which can be tested against each mission area requirements in a phased approach.

    Highlights

    • HPC hardware requires an extensive amount of O&M and has a finite lifespan. Hardware must be maintained, renewed, and insured leading to long term costs and sustainment to the Government. Transitioning HPC software saves long term hardware cost to the Government enabling long term sustainability in cloud solutions.
