Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for this hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 ARM image, billed per running instance. Pricing is tied to the AWS EC2 ARM-based (Graviton) instance type you select. Options span many families, including general-purpose (m-series), compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r- and x-series), and storage- or network-focused variants. Sizes range from small (medium, large) up to metal instances. Larger instances with more vCPU, memory, or storage carry higher hourly rates. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and the software charge applies for each hour it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for this hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 ARM image?
One hour covers a single running instance of the image on your chosen Graviton (ARM) EC2 instance type. Each running instance meters its own hours. If you run several instances, each accrues its own hourly software charge based on its selected instance type.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time only. A stopped or fully powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still pay underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the attached volume, but the image charge applies only while the instance runs.
Does the hourly rate change if I switch to a larger instance type?
Yes. The software rate is tied to the instance type you select. Moving to a type with more vCPU, memory, or storage applies that type's higher hourly rate for the hours it runs. Switching to a smaller type applies the lower rate. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance.
