Usage instructions
- Launch the product using the EC2 Console. Ensure that you attach an IAM policy to the instance that has the aws-marketplace:MeterUsage permission (See https://docs.aws.amazon.com/marketplace/latest/userguide/iam-user-policy-for-aws-marketplace-actions.html#iam-user-policy-for-ami-products for details). Also ensure that your instance has an Internet Gateway so that it can reach the internet to report usage. It may take around 15 minutes for the Web UI to become accessible.
- Use a web browser to access the application at https://<EC2_Instance_Public_DNS>/fmeserver
- Sign in using the following credentials: User name: admin Password: the instance ID (instance_id)
- Once logged in, change your password to something more secure

XMLTemplater in FME Form Made Environment Agency XML Mapping Effortless

What do you like best about the product?
We have field team capturing everything from drone imagery to simple GeoJSON on tablet, all need mapping to highly specific XML schema for Environment Agency. XMLTemplater transformer in FME Form has been huge for this particular workflow. I can visually route our raw data into exact nested tag without writing raw code. We recently hooked up FME Flow to trigger these translation automatically whenever surveyor drops new dataset into our portal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Last year we were running massive compliance workspace and FME just kept crashing on my laptop. Turns out temporary file were eating up my entire hard drive without throwing clear warning beforehand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We finally have repeatable and standardized process for our regulatory submission. Before FME every consultant on team had their own messy bespoke way of wrangling data. Now we use centralized workspace that acts as quality control gatekeeper and if field worker forgets mandatory attribute then FME catches it and alerts them immediately.

FME Platform Made Our Legacy Data Migration to the Cloud Seamless

What do you like best about the product?
Getting our legacy utility asset data into cloud was starting to feel complicated before we switch to FME Platform. I lead data architecture team and we had million of record trapped in old CAD file. Thing i love most is how FME Form handles basically any format you throw at it, even the weird proprietary sensor format we use. Last year we started using FME Remote Engines Service running inside Snowflake which cut our data processing time by like 30 percent.
What do you dislike about the product?
We struggled quite bit with version control and managing change across multi user environment. When you have 3 different data engineer working on complex workspace in FME Form, merging those change isn't exactly easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to have people manually validating asset geometry before uploading to central database, super error prone and waste of their time. Now software automatically flags bad geometry or missing attribute and emails report to engineer.

What do you like best about the product?
I don't know how we functioned before we got FME Platform. We constantly get massive and poorly standardized AutoCAD file from contractor that need shoving into our ArcGIS portal. Visual interface in FME Form is incredible for this. I drag and drop Transformer like SpatialFilter and visually map out how DWG layer translate into our geodatabase. We set up FME Flow last year to run these translation overnight which took massive weight off from us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Transformer gallery can be overwhelming. When we first deployed it, training junior analyst was bit of headache. There are literally 100 of transformer and knowing whether to use FeatureMerger or FeatureJoiner for specific CAD to GIS task feels like you need PhD in FME sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now i actually get to do real spatial analysis now. We're solving fundamental issue of data silo between our engineering department legacy file and planning department modern map. FME grabs the file, checks geometry, kicks out clean feature class automatically, so our public facing web map are actually up to date now.

What do you like best about the product?
I use FME primarily as a data integration and automation tool. It allows me to take data from multiple sources, transform it into the right formats and deliver it where it needs to go.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does come with a learning curve and workflows can become complex quickly. Debugging and performance tuning also take some experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FME solves the problem of disconnected, messy, and manual data workflows. It lets me integrate data from multiple systems, automate repetitive processes, and ensure everything is clean and usable. The biggest benefit for me is time savings and reliability.

What do you like best about the product?
I love this platform for its capability to heavy task with ease. I love the workflow of this platform which enhances the capability of the user with its capacity to execute difficult task without much headache. I also love the capability of this platform to segregate good data. The universal translator of this platform is really useful for user to clean data. I also love the automation of this platform. The platform have a user friendly interface and the onboarding of this platform is also fast. I feel that the platform is also secured. I love the integration capability of this platform and it makes this platform more robust and powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I love most part of this platform but I wish that the pricing of this platform was a little more moderate. I also feel that training the user on using this platform would boost the efficiency of the user. I also wish that the built in translator works more reliably without any issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Frankly Data integration and workflow of this platform assist the user in improving the efficiency of the task. The analytics of this platform also provides user and organization with more enhanced information to take an informed decision. This platform have improve the productivity of the organization.
