Designed from the ground up by Escape Technology, Sherpa is a simple-to-use cloud-resource management tool ideally suited to creative teams looking to leverage the power of AWS. Sherpa provides a unified, user-friendly platform that empowers businesses to maximize the potential of their AWS cloud investments while minimizing operational overhead.
Moving workflows and workloads to AWS offers organisations many potential benefits - increased scalability, flexibility, cost savings, and more. However, the process of migrating on-premises workflows or building cloud-native platforms comes with sizeable technical hurdles and complexities. Most organisations do not have the internal DevOps, SecOps and CloudOps expertise required to provision, configure, update and maintain resources in a cloud environment. The dynamic, self-service nature of the cloud amplifies the need for governance, automation and centralised cloud management capabilities and adds to the complexity of managing such a system.
Some solutions have been offered in the past which, although they might remove an element of complexity, impose restrictions in that their application is too limited. Examples of these solutions might be, "render on-demand" solutions that only offer up cloud compute or vendor-specific solutions that only let the user run a specific application in the cloud. While highly targeted solutions can solve immediate isolated challenges, their overspecialisation becomes a longer-term bottleneck for optimised, agile cloud adoption. Open, balanced and secure solutions that provide both customisation and broad standardised capabilities are often preferable. The technical complexity involved in taking advantage of AWS forms a barrier to entry. It is challenging for small and medium-sized companies to compete with larger organisations that have the required technical capabilities and can afford the operational overhead.

You pay based on a single usage dimension: linked users. A linked user is anyone who accepts an invite to your Sherpa environment. Your cost scales directly with the number of accepted invites, so it grows as you add users and shrinks as you remove them. There are no separate tiers or fixed packages. This structure lets studios of any size match spending to their active team, whether you run a small freelance setup or a larger studio pipeline in the cloud.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one linked user for billing?
A linked user is any person who accepts an invite to your Sherpa environment. Only accepted invites count. People you invite who have not yet accepted do not add to your charges. Each accepted invite counts as one billable user.
What happens to my cost when I add or remove people from my team?
Your cost tracks the number of accepted invites. Adding a user who accepts an invite raises your usage. Removing a linked user lowers it. There are no fixed packages or tiers, so charges rise and fall directly with your active linked user count.
Can both technical and non-technical staff be linked users?
Yes. Sherpa is set up so production staff, not just technical staff, can use it. Any team member who accepts an invite becomes a linked user and counts toward billing, regardless of their role in the studio.
