See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
Blindata Agent is free to use, so no software charges apply for any option here. You choose from seven EC2 instance sizes, billed by the hour based on the compute you run. The options range from the smallest t2.nano to the larger t2.2xlarge, with t2.micro, t2.small, t2.medium, t2.large, and t2.xlarge in between. Larger instances provide more CPU and memory for running the agent. Your hourly cost reflects only the EC2 infrastructure you select. The Agent collects metadata without opening network holes, so pick the instance size that matches your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resources do I get when I select a t2 instance size like t2.micro or t2.2xlarge?
Each option maps to an EC2 instance type with fixed CPU and memory. t2.nano and t2.micro carry the least compute, while t2.2xlarge carries the most, with t2.small, t2.medium, t2.large, and t2.xlarge in between. Larger sizes handle heavier metadata crawling loads.
Am I charged when the Blindata Agent instance is stopped or paused?
The software carries no charge, since Blindata Agent is free. You pay only for the underlying EC2 compute, billed per running hour. A fully stopped instance stops accruing compute charges, though attached AWS storage may still incur separate AWS fees.
What does the Blindata Agent do, and why choose one instance size over another?
The Agent crawls metadata from your systems without opening network holes, keeping your data in place. Pick a size based on crawling workload: smaller instances suit light or occasional metadata collection, while larger instances handle bigger or more frequent crawls needing more CPU and memory.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
