    Styra Authorization Platform

     Info
Styra Authorization Platform Styra is the only authorization platform to provide unified policy-as-code management that accelerates deployments and improves security practices. Styra Declarative Authorization Service (DAS) is the fastest and easiest way for enterprises to operationalize Open Policy Agent across infrastructure, applications, public clouds and custom APIs. Styra DAS is a control plane that allows enterprise level governance and policy management. Teams can administer policy from their GitOps process, through deployment and into their cluster and clouds, all while being monitored and updated in real time. Styra DAS allows for simplified authoring and collaboration, policy impact analysis, deep visibility through decision logging and compliance monitoring, and fine-grained access control. Styra Load is an enterprise-grade OPA distribution designed to mitigate the effects data-heavy workloads have on infrastructure costs and authorization performance.

    Overview

    Play video

Styra is the leader of cloud-native authorization, and the creators and maintainers of Open Policy Agent (OPA), the de-facto standard for externalized Policy-as-Code. Styra Load is an enterprise-grade OPA distribution built for data-heavy authorization. Styra Load reduces OPA's memory overhead by 10x and CPU footprint by 40%. Using Styra Load out-of-the-box datasource integrations allows teams to reduce development costs and get into production quickly.

Styra Declarative Authorization Service (DAS) is the leading Externalized Authorization Management (EAM) platform built on top of OPA.

Styra DAS helps platform engineers quickly generate infrastructure guardrails, including NIST SP 800-190 compliant policies from Styra, plus an expansive collection of Styra validated policies for PCI DSS, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Benchmarks, and Pod Security Compliance. This frees up application engineers to develop code quickly and deploy infrastructure resources that align with security, compliance, and operations team requirements. Styra DAS also helps application engineers quickly create and manage context-rich application permissions for users using policy-as-code and securely deliver an application at record speed.

Styra DAS helps DevOps and Security teams mitigate risks and reduce human error. Styra DAS can perform impact analysis via decision replay to validate the impact of policy changes before committing or deploying. Security teams can use Styra DAS Stacks to author and enforce organization-wide security policies that cannot be circumvented by application developers.

    Transportation/Trucking/Railroad

Versatile and needed tool for managing Open Policy Agent Instances at scale.

    Reviewed on Jan 18, 2023
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Styra DAS, as a control plane for managing our Open Policy Agent instances for Kubernetes dynamic admission control, gave us a much-needed overview of what is going on in our systems. Without we would have had to build something, with limited feature scope, ourselves and maintain it.
The Support team is and was of great help. Conceptual as also technical support was delivered ad-hoc via Slack or during cadence calls.
What do you dislike about the product?
Major changes or feature requests, if not critical, can be slow. I believe this is due to their development team still growing. Since Styra is still a young company, I´m confident that this will change over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our case, it helps to enforce enterprise policies at the technical level. The technological building blocks like Kubernetes or Crossplane do not always supply the needed tooling to do so easily. It helps to have the possibility to change policy independent from our software development lifecycle, which is especially needed due to our growing teams.
    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Technology, flexibility, Collab with Styra team, Hands-on-mentality, leadership engagement.
What do you dislike about the product?
Styra is still scaling up, so next to some pro's this leads also to less processes and some things will improve over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Authorization for Digital products from Microservices to RBAC.
