ScaleOut GeoServer provides disaster recovery and global data integration (GDI) for multiple, remote IMDGs. When configured for disaster recovery (“push” mode), it replicates data between IMDGs at multiple sites (cloud or on-premises) to protect against site-wide failures, while allowing all sites to be active. ScaleOut GeoServer transparently scales replication bandwidth as the workload grows. For GDI, ScaleOut GeoServer can be configured to enable the creation of a single, virtual data grid that spans IMDGs at multiple sites (“pull” mode) with seamless access to data regardless of where it is stored. AWS instances include Standard Support. Premium support packages are available directly from ScaleOut Software.

You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance you run this software on. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so your rate scales with the compute size you choose. Options span several instance families, including general-purpose (m4, m5, t2, t3), compute-optimized (c4, c5), and memory-optimized (r4, r5, x1, x1e). Within each family, larger sizes carry higher hourly rates. Pick a smaller instance for lighter workloads or a larger one to handle bigger stream-processing and data replication demands. There is no upfront commitment; you pay only for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly charge cover, and does it stack with AWS EC2 costs?
Each dimension bills for one running EC2 instance of the named type, per hour. The software rate is separate from the underlying AWS infrastructure charge. You pay both: the ScaleOut software fee plus the standard EC2 compute cost for that instance size.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped, for example a standby data center used for replication?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software fees. Note that this software supports multi-site data replication for disaster recovery, so a standby site still running an instance continues to accrue hourly charges until stopped.
If I move to a larger instance to handle bigger workloads, how does my bill change?
Switching instance types changes your hourly rate to match the new type. There is no automatic upgrade; you choose the instance when you launch. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates. You pay the rate for whichever instance is running at any given time.

Client applications running as a single instance or as multiple instances can connect to and make use of a deployed in-memory data grid using APIs provided by the ScaleOut StateServer Remote Client libraries. Client applications can run either within Amazon Web Services or on remote client systems. Please install the ScaleOut Remote Client libraries on all instances or servers that need to access a deployed in-memory data grid. Follow the instructions in the Product Documentation to enable a client application to dynamically connect to a named data grid within Amazon Web Services. These instructions explain how to configure the client configuration file, soss_client_params.txt, which the user stages in the ScaleOut StateServer installation folder on each client instance or remote client system prior to starting the client application.
